Assignment

1. What is interpretative reading ?
Speakers may read any published written work that is age appropriate and acceptable for use in a public school classroom. Examples may include: children’s stories, poetry, essays, speeches, articles, and excerpts from novels that stand alone. Political and religious advocacy is not appropriate. In addition to introducing themselves, the speaker should demonstrate knowledge about the reading selection by describing the title, the author, the characters, the purpose or setting of the writing, and any other introductory information that might enhance the understanding of the piece by the audience. The reading should be completed with a short conclusion that will leave a vivid memory of the selection in the minds of the audien
2. What is affective reading ?
Effective Reading is a topic-based 4-level course designed to develop strong reading skills.
By drawing on research into the competencies and skills that make good readers, Effective Reading incorporates motivational texts, extensive practice and dictionary work, teaching young adult and adult learners the essential skills they need to become good readers.
3. What is the difference between both types of reading ?
The first distinction that can be made is whether the reading is oral or silent. This web page will not deal with oral reading, only silent reading.
Within the category of silent reading, one encounters intensive and extensive reading.  Intensive reading is used to teach or practice specific reading strategies or skills. The text is treated as an end in itself.  Extensive reading on the other hand,  involves reading of large quantities of material, directly and fluently.  It is treated as a means to an end. It may include reading reading simply for pleasure or reading technical, scientific or professional material. This later type of text, more academic, may involve two specific types of reading, scanning for key details or skimming for the  essential meaning.   A relatively quick and efficient read, either on its own or after scanning or skimming, will give a global or general meaning.
4. Why do student need to learn English reading ?

  1. Number 1 is wrong. I'm aware you copy-pasted everything from http://ucanr.edu/sites/4HSanDiegoCounty/files/134231.pdf and this does not even give a definition of interpretative reading (IR). Try to translate that paragraph; That paragraph is telling someone how to speak in a public situation, not giving an answer to the question.

Number 2 is also wrong. You copied everything from https://ladsblue.com/f12pi05mw?key=0f22c1fd609f13cb7947c8cabfe1a90d&psid=14952720 and it doesn't give a definition of affective reading (AR). It only says that AR is a subject for fourth semesters and that it includes motivational texts and others.

Number 3 is way off. Please read your own answers. "The first distinction that can be made is whether the reading is ORAL or SILENT". The question is the difference between INTERPRETATIVE and AFFECTIVE.

Number 4's answers are correct, but again, you copied everything from Quora https://www.quora.com/Why-do-students-need-to-learn-English.

Ren, please write the answers on your own words. If you don't feel confident with your grammar, that's okay because it's my job to point out the correct grammar. However, your job is to answer the questions with your understanding. You've learned about how to paraphrase sentences, so you may search the answers from other websites, but try to write your answers in your post with your own words, okay?

I will give you a chance to redo this assignment. Create a new post and answer the 4 questions with your own words. The deadline is 11 AM tomorrow.
