1. In understanding foreign cultures, someone needs to understand well the cultures to avoid cultural conflicts. But, many people are failed to understand the values and customs of foreign cultures. According to your own idea, please explain what do you need to have to understand foreign cultures in order to avoid cultural conflicts.

In my according, the things that need to be understood to avoid conflict between cultures are understanding the values and norms of a culture, being tolerant, living with mutual respect

Effective intercultural communication is determined by how people understand the beliefs and cultural attitudes of others. Associating with people from other ethnic groups and religions is determined by the degree to which you show sensitivity and concern for the beliefs of others.

Communication patterns carried out by people of different cultures tend to have different characters and personalities in expressing this communication. Communication carried out by someone who has the same culture, will tend to have a greater similarity (homogeneity) than those of different cultures. Meanwhile, communication from different cultures will tend to disagree and arguably seem to have no big similarities, maybe there are similarities but small.

The way to deal with conflicts between cultures is to discuss problems politely, in order to show a genuine desire to solve the problems that occur. Speak directly with the people involved using polite and respectful language and increase a sense of tolerance, realizing that differences are not something to be bothered with.

2. How do you define your local cultural is different from foreign culture? Do youthink local and foreign cultures need to be integrated? Please provide your reasons

Best on my opinion Local culture is the original culture of a particular community group. The characteristics of local culture can be recognized in the form of social institutions owned by an ethnic group. While Foreign culture is a culture that comes from outside the area which is accepted and lived by a community who lives in its own area. The impact of the entry of foreign cultures causes cultural changes, cultural assimilation, modernization, cultural shocks, weakening of national cultural values. As a national identity, local culture must be maintained for its authenticity and ownership so that it cannot be recognized by other countries.

We, as a generation of local culture, of course have to instill a sense of love for the country so as not to erode local culture due to foreign cultural influences, therefore it is necessary to integrate local culture from generation to generation. To face the current swift flow of globalization to generations. is necessary to instill the values of nationalism. Cultivating the values of this nationalismIt is hoped that they will be able to form a generation that has a sense of love for their local culture so that it is not eroded by the swift currents of globalizationrecently. One of the ways that can be done to preserve local culture is by integrating the values of local wisdom in learning. In this integration, of course, must be adjusted accordinglylocal cultural values and norms.

3. What is stereotype and prejuice? Does it exist in your local culture? Give example?

Best on my view a stereotype is a positive or negative belief that is held against a certain social group. After the emergence of stereotypes, prejudice will emerge which is a negative attitude that cannot be justified towards members of the group.

The stereotype in my culture regarding lazy, lazy Malay culture is a self-image of ethnic Malay who views ethnic Malay as being included in the category of people who are lazy to work, meaning that here the Malay community is a society that has a very relaxed character at work. However, the prejudice is that most Malay people are like that, but not all.
